Purpose:
The Commercial Sales Manager position is responsible for directing, supervising, and executing commercial equipment sales/marketing strategic goals throughout the organization. This position directly supervises outside Sales Engineers who call on installing contractors, mechanical engineers and owners. It also is responsible for pursuing commercial equipment sales though the residential Territory Managers and Parts department employees.
Position requires someone who is committed to delivering business results and continually fostering SE’s personal growth and engagement. Responsible for supervision, direction, and corrective action, as required, of the outside commercial sales team (SE’s) to achieve desired objectives.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business or equivalent from a four-year college or university preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum ten (10) years of HVAC industry or related experience.
- Minimum five (5) years selling and/or applying Unitary equipment, Applied equipment and DDC Controls in the commercial HVAC market.
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive sales managerial experience
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of computer programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, PowerPoint, SAP and CRM
- Strong presentation skills and proficiency in speaking to large audiences.
- Able to lead and direct cross-functional and cross-business unit project teams to achieve business results.
- Ability to lead, manage, mentor and inspire others. Knowledge of multiple levels with the supply chain organization.
- Polished presentation skills, multi-faceted thinker, and innovator.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
- Responsible for achieving annual objectives regarding profit, volume, margins, and share of market for both unitary and applied products.
- Forecasting commercial market’s sales potential
- Develop the annual and long-term sales goals of the commercial equipment department.
- Develop annual commercial sales plan with measurable goals and strategic actions.
- Assist outside SE’s in developing their individual sales plans with measurable goals and strategic actions.
- Review outside SE’s during monthly/quarterly meetings in regard to their sales plan execution, YTD sales volume, backlog, quote volume, close rate, and assigned account performance. Determine which SE’s are performers, under-performers and non-performers.
- Hiring/onboarding and firing of the commercial outside sales force.
- Continual assessment of the skill level of all SE’s and determining/providing necessary training to develop.
- Take the leadership role for the following company functions: service concerns from commercial customers, commercial vendor management, commercial customer satisfaction measurement, and efficient use of Carrier’s commercial sales software tools.
- Stays abreast of technological and competitive developments in HVAC systems/equipment and distribution. This includes reviewing articles in trade publications, attending trade shows, monitoring and evaluating competitor's activities and products.
- Measuring and maximizing account penetration.
- Assigning and reassigning commercial accounts.
- Setting commercial quotas for entire sales team (residential and commercial)
- Responsible for commercial sales team’s compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational integrity.
- Promote and manage to the company’s cultural behaviors and habits.
- Promotes and maintains a flexible cooperative, positive, team-oriented attitude with and between departments and end users.
- Represents Lohmiller and Company at trade association meetings, customer promotions, vendor meetings, etc. to promote commercial products and programs.
- Determine key focused/targeted products or market segments and develop marketing and PSC (Professional Sales Call) materials as well as needed training to pursue.
